Brand Focus – Pomodoro

What is the story behind your business?

Our story began in the early 90’s. We had decided to launch our own fashion label, even though Britain was in the midst of a recession. On the 6th March, 1992, Pomodoro was born. Our first office was a tiny room in the basement in Paddington.

As a start-up business, we had no option but to generate income immediately. We went to India for a month and began working on a collection for late spring. Against our natural instinct, we took a gamble and placed an initial order for delivery in May. We had no other choice, but to sell summer stock in May!

We borrowed our parents life savings to pay for the shipment. Then, in May, Just as our goods arrived in the country, the weather broke and a miraculous heat wave changed our luck and the fate of Pomodoro was sealed.

What do you think is the next best seller of the upcoming season?

We believe our bestseller for Spring 2020 will be our easy to wear shirt dresses in a multitude of prints. They tick all the boxes as they are comfortable, cool and have a much sought after sleeve, yet they ooze effortless style.

What are your brand values?

We recognise that the brand wouldn’t be where it is today without the loyalty and support of our regular customers and we take the opportunity to say thank you at the Trade Shows by making it as much a time to celebrate as it is to showcase the new collection.

Ethical manufacturing and natural fibres play an important role in our business as does our belief in supporting the High Street in any way we can.

What are the key pieces within your collection?

Our hero pieces are without doubt our fabulous jumpsuits which are designed to flatter, provide comfort and all come with a sleeve. We have introduced a leather biker jacket this season in vibrant colours colour co-ordinated to wear over our dresses and jumpsuits for a more contemporary look.
