Celebrating International Women’s Day

We are shining the spot light on Helen Moore, and how her business started.

How did you start your business?

I trained in Fashion and Textiles at Goldsmiths College of Art in the sixties…so I am quite old. It was an amazing time to be in London, a time of enormous change and rebellion. The women’s movement changed our expectations, so International Women’s Day is to be celebrated wholeheartedly.

What is your passion?

My passion is for textiles, I am happiest when I am working with fabric. This was really how the business started, one of the first things I made was a furry hot water bottle cover. The business evolved but I wanted to keep production in the UK, so all our faux fur accessories are designed, sewn and finished in our own factory here in Devon.

What is your view of fashion?

I find fashion fascinating, where do the trends come from? Does fashion really reflect the spirit of the time or is it choreographed purely with money in mind. The origin of trends may be blurred but fashion gives us an opportunity to be creative and assert our individuality.
